Welcome
Brendan Loveday | Illustration & Ink
I’m interested in the strangeness of ordinary things—how a leaf, a snail, or a loose border of ink can suggest something more. My illustrations explore the overlap between nature and imagination, and I tend to follow the line until it surprises me.
I work primarily in black and white, with detail as both structure and impulse. Whether I’m drawing plants, animals, or something less nameable, I try to leave room for a little wonder—and maybe a bit of whimsy too.

Whether I’m drawing plants, animals, or something less nameable, I try to leave room for a little wonder—and maybe a little whimsy too.
I’m a self-taught artist based in Lexington, Massachusetts, working primarily in pen and ink. My illustrations blend the natural and the uncanny—often featuring plants, animals, and imagined scenes rendered with fine detail and quiet wit.
I’m drawn to the edge of the surreal, where line, texture, and tone tell the story. I aim for work that invites close looking and holds a quiet mix of humor, melancholy, and oddity just beneath the surface.
